There is a larger and more powerful electric motor between the automatic transmission and the gasoline engine. This electric motor takes the place of torque converters in conventional Jeep Wranglers. The designers have also created a mechanism to disconnect the wheels from the gasoline engine for a complete electric driving experience. This was achieved by linking the electric motor to the gasoline powerplant and the gearbox via two clutches.
